The London Marathon is one of the most iconic races in the world, drawing over 56,000 runners in 2025 to conquer the challenging 26.2-mile (42.2 km) route through London’s historic streets. This prestigious event attracts hundreds of thousands of applicants each year, yet only a fraction are lucky enough to secure a spot through a fiercely competitive ballot.
This year, the club is immensely proud to have secured 16 coveted marathon entries, all of which are being undertaken by first-time marathon runners. Running a marathon is an extraordinary physical and mental challenge, especially daunting for newcomers. Each runner has embarked on a rigorous 16-week training program, often running three or more times per week. This feat becomes even more impressive as many of these training runs occurred during the holy month of Ramadhan, adding layers of discipline, perseverance, and commitment.
Our dedicated athletes have pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones, balancing intensive training schedules with fasting, work, family commitments, and personal responsibilities. Their journey epitomizes the spirit of resilience and community.
In undertaking this incredible challenge, these runners are not just pursuing personal milestones; they have also raised vital funds for our charity partner, WF-Aid, supporting secondary education in Tanzania.
