The London Marathon is one of the greatest running events in the world. Each year thousands of runners take on the challenge, and for many it becomes a life-changing journey. SJ is proud to have helped dozens of our members cross that famous finish line, supported every step of the way by mentors, training plans and the strength of our community.
As the excitement of the 2025 race settles, we now look ahead to 2026. We are calling on brothers and sisters who are ready to dream big and put themselves forward for one of the most iconic races in the calendar. Whether you are an experienced runner chasing a new personal best or someone with the courage to attempt your very first marathon, this is your chance to register your interest.
In our faith, health and wellbeing are blessings from Allah. We are encouraged to use our time and strength in positive ways. Training for the marathon is not only about fitness. It teaches patience, discipline and resilience. These qualities reflect the spirit of sabr and perseverance mentioned in the Qur’an. Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a) said: “The believer is tested, and with patience he overcomes, and with gratitude he succeeds.” Many of our runners describe the marathon as both a physical and spiritual journey, reminding them that with dedication and trust in Allah, challenges that once seemed impossible can be overcome.
This journey is also about giving back. Each year our marathon runners help raise vital funds for WF-Aid, our charity partner. Through your efforts on the streets of London, you can support those most in need across the world. Running the marathon becomes more than a personal achievement. It becomes an act of service, a way to channel your training, sweat and sacrifice into real change for others.
