As the blessed month of Ramadhan comes to an end, we want to wish each of you, and your families Eid Mubarak on behalf of SJ Cycling.
Eid is a time for reflection as we consider the world we live in, and our part in it. Reflection on the month of Ramadhan, and the difference we made to ourselves, those around us, and the world we live in.
On 5th Ramadhan 1441, SJ Cycling launched an ambitious challenge to cycle 5000 miles and feed 250 families for one month. I can assure you this was an anxious time; this was a “big ask” to cycle 5000 miles from a community observing fasting during the holy month. As always, our community “rose” to the challenge; not just in Stanmore, but all over the United Kingdom and globally.
“Winning is not a something; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit.” Vince Lombardi
During this month, each and every one of us has won; together we have cycled almost 17,000 miles. But more importantly together we have raised funds to feed over 330 families for one month; together we have used this blessed month to make our impact on humanity. Thank you for winning every single day.
Sometimes when you launch a project, you don’t always consider the peripheral benefits that may be achieved. Together, during the month of Ramadhan, we have brought together our global cycling community; gents, ladies, youth, and children. An achievement that will carry on, Almighty willing, for years to come. Friendships built that will last and stand the test of time. We are stronger together, and together we will achieve more in years to come.
How do we move forward together? Behind the scenes, SJ Cycling are developing a way forward for the global cycling community to remain interactive; and competitive. Watch this space as we launch a series of challenges over the coming weeks and months. As always, with the Grace of the Almighty we will endeavour to hold our annual Ali Asghar Water Appeal ride on a much larger scale; inviting our brothers, sisters, and youth from around the globe to join us in this humanitarian effort. What the AAWA ride will look like this year may be very different due to the current circumstances; but we have no doubt the global community will join us, and support us in ensuring another successful challenge.
We want to thank our partners, WF-Aid and Bullsmoor Dental without whom this would not be possible. As always, our partners play a key role in the ongoing success of our club, and the impact we are able to have on the community.
Finally, a thank you from SJ Cycling to each and every one of our participants, donors, and supporters; we truly are stronger when we are together. We look forward to building on the new bonds we have developed, and together make our small impact on humanity.
For now, keep cycling!
