Stanmore Jafferys are pleased to announce the newest sport to our portfolio. Over recent years there has been a big interest in this dynamic sport with impromptu private social sessions, or members invested in the NBA and looking up to the many sporting icons Basketball has produced through time.
Without initiative from our members, we would not be able to increase the sports we offer.
We as a club are extremely grateful to Reza Ladak who has volunteered to become the first Head of SJ Basketball.
Originally from New York, Reza moved to London in 2019 and immediately gravitated towards the community’s football sessions. Through football, he met many people who shared their love for watching the NBA and kept up with the league despite the time difference. This encouraged him to find more individuals who not only loved watching the sport, but who were also willing to give it a try.
Reza comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in not only playing the game he loves, but also a history of volunteering in New York where he was part of various Basketball groups and teams. He is excited to be part of Stanmore Jafferys and hopes to use Basketball to bring together more people and strengthen the brotherhood within our community.
The first session for adults (18+) will be held at Avanti School, Stanmore on Friday evening. 9pm to 10pm.
The session is open to players of all abilities.
We have all done it – in secret or in public – when tempted by an empty hoop. Volleyball in hand, or spare football looking alone – stepped up to the 3-point line and taken a shot. Now is the time to take that interest and show off your shooting skill. The personal satisfaction at scoring that basket is unrivalled – a sense of achievement unparalleled when the basket greets you with a “swish”.
Let’s all get behind this new initiative by Reza and his team and sign up for the inaugural Basketball session.
The Basketball team has huge plans this season. A Summer camp and a social tournament amongst other events in the pipeline.
