MATCH REPORT 3rd Dec 2022

The SJFC U10s gathered at Maple Cross across anxious to replicate their World Cup heroes.

Westwood Park Cyclones were short on players so requested a 6 a-side match.

Q1 commenced with both teams anxious to display their attack-minded play. SJFC’s game plan to counter attack became evident – Hassan scoring a wonderful goal running through on goal from the halfway line. 1-0 to SJFC.

Before Q2 started, the respective coaches agreed to reduce the pitch size. SJFC started to create more chances, maintaining a disciplined approach given Westwood’s strength. As the half neared to a close, Ali scored a bullet goal from a tight angle. 2-0 to SJFC!

Q3 started with coach Mustafa making some substitutions to keep the team fresh. Somewhat against the run of play, Westwood scored putting them right back in the game.

Coach Mustafa stuck to the game plan and the team responded. Two quick fire goals from Javadali – who started the game in goal – allowed SJFC to have a strong advantage. As we neared the end of the quarter, Westwood again pulled a goal back! 4-2 to SJFC.

This game was really showing the depth in the SJFC squad plus the continued improvement through Sunday training.

Husayn Kermali, Nadhirali Rajwani, Husayn Ali Khimji and Owais Chandoo demonstrated excellent defensive control – supporting each other and linking well with midfield and attack.

RaihanAli Dewji, Muhammad Hamzah Muraj and Ali Rahemani demonstrated versatility playing in attacking, midfield and defensive roles.

Javadali Muraj and Hassan Merali provided the main attacking options with continuous marauding runs into the final third.

As we entered the final quarter, Hassan added a fifth prompting Westwood to adapt an alternative game plan. This paid dividends with two impressive goals.

The game ended 5-4 – another super display from SJFC U10s!
