1st Ramadhan 1442
To Our Community Members
As the blessed month of Ramadhan comes to us once again, we want to wish you all a blessed and successful month; hoping all our prayers and fasts are accepted.
This year, SJ Cycling in collaboration with SJ Running want to challenge each and everyone of you to join in our 100,000 active minutes challenge. Did you know in the United Kingdom:
– 1 in 10 people over the age of 40 in the UK are now living with Type 2 diabetes (approx. 3.4 million people).
– 65% of the UK population have high or borderline high levels of LDL (“bad” cholesterol).
– Approximately 1 in 3 adults in the UK has high blood pressure.
– There are 7.6 million people in the UK living with Coronary Heart Disease.
Even more alarming is that these statistics are much higher in the Asian population!
This Ramadhan our aim is to help each and every member of our community become healthier by staying. There are numerous studies that show the benefits of fasting on maintaining a healthy body; now imagine the benefits if you can do this whilst staying active.
Our challenge is simple! Together we will stay active and raise awareness of hunger within our borders. We want to achieve 100,000 active minutes and raise £12,500 to help bring awareness to poverty and hunger in London. #HelpingOurSelvesToHelpOthers

“Winning is not a something; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit.” Vince Lombardi
We want to thank our partners, WF-Aid and Bullsmoor Dental without whom these initiatives would not be possible. As always, our partners play a key role in the ongoing success of our club, and the impact we are able to have on the community.
Finally, a thank you from SJ Cycling to each and every one of our participants, donors, and supporters; we truly are stronger when we are together. We look forward to another successful initiative, and together make our small impact on humanity.
For now keep walking, running and/or cycling!
