Stanmore Jafferys are delighted to announce Akhtar Jaffer as our new Table Tennis Coordinator.
Akhtar needs no introduction to the community given his prominence in many facets in the past and present
Akhtar comes with a wealth of experience. Some of his many achievements and voluntary contributions include being the Chairman of Ithna Asheri Union and he was the chair of the visionary committee that formed Stanmore Jafferys.
The club and its members will always be in debt to the committee that formed us and paved the way to lead us to where we are currently.
Akhtar has organised tournaments in cricket, volleyball and played badminton too.
All those amongst the Table Tennis fraternity will know of his passion and commitment to the sport, being a regular member.
The SJ EC were especially excited to appoint Akhtar with his plans to build on Sadiq Merchant’s work to improve players skills during his term.
Asked to outline his plans, Akhtar was very firm in his vision.
“Table Tennis has evolved and in past year with the start of the SJ Clubhouse, SJ Ladies and Seniors have started playing TT in the last year. Insha’Allah in the New Year we wish to start Certificated Table Tennis Coaching for 9 years+, with Hussein Juma. We wish to encourage more community participation, Insha’Allah.”
This is very much what we look for in Sports Coordinators who come with a passion to volunteer and a structured plan to deliver a quality product to our distinguished members.
We cannot wait for 2025 when Akhtar will take over SJ TT.
We wish him the very best and we are sure he will have the support of the TT community.
